Shinjuku Gyoen

Shinjuku Gyoen is the leading example of western styled gardens in Japan. It was completed in 1906 as one of the Imperial gardens in the Meiji era.  The garden was  designed by Henri Martinet. The French horticulturalist, based on a concept formulated by Hayato Fukuba, a Meiji and Taisho era agricultural scientist.

The extensive garden is composed of three distinctive-styled gardens- the French Formal garden, the English Landscape Garden and the Japanese Traditional Garden.

The French Formal Garden:-
Is a beautiful, symmetrical garden with central rosé beds and rows of sycamore trees on both sides.
